Masters of the Universe: Revelation looks interesting
It's got all the right-wingers on YouTube riled up for reasons that I honestly don't care to find out why. It's He-Man, ya dorks.

Nerd Trash Icon of the Month: Velma Dinkley
Don't call it a comeback because I in all honesty don't know if this is will be a regular thing again.
The choice of Velma Dinkley is entirely inspired by Tim Knight's photo dump over on HeroPress, so you know, blame him. Velma has always been my favorite Scooby Doo character and it should be pretty obvious why: She's a nerd. Just look at her.
Mary Jane shoes, the skirt, the knee high socks, and of course, that ever present turtle neck. Throw in the glasses and even back then Velma probably would have been a wallflower. And yet, she was cool and smart. She made being smart cool.
Then there's the cosplay!
😍

Life is like a hurricane here in Duckburg
So did you know that there's a new DuckTales cartoon coming next year? I sure as frell didn't until Tor.com posted a YouTube video of the cast singing the theme song.
Yup, that's David Frakking Tennant singing! And he'll be playing Scrooge McDuck too! I don't get Disney XD on my TV, but I'm still excited. I wonder if this will lead to a reboot of Darkwing Duck?
DuckTales was one of my favorite cartoons when I was a young lad. I never missed an episode. Gizmoduck was one of my favorite characters, along with Launchpad McQuack.

Why did Constantinople get the works? That's nobody's business but the Turks
Of course I went with the Tiny Toon Adventures music video. I remember watching this when I was a kid along with "Particle Man". If I had known who They Might Be Giants were, I'd probably have become a fan.

Hanna-Barbera had some good superheroes
Credit goes to Cal for posting these on his blog first. I really wanted to know who created these awesome pictures and did some snooping and found the source, an artist named Salvador Anguiano. I loved watching these Hanna-Barbera cartoons when I was a kid and back when Cartoon Network and other channels still aired them. The art and animation was of a better quality than a lot of newer cartoons at the time and while the plots weren't typically complex, they were compelling enough to hold my attention and fuel my imagination.
I always dug the Galaxy Trio and I really feel like they deserve a reboot either as a cartoon or a comic.
Harvey Birdman was a great show, but I hate that it's completely overshadowed the original Birdman cartoon, which was an outstanding show.
I wonder who would win in a fight, Mightor or Thor?
Can I just say that it sucks that Blue Falcon was overshadowed by Dyno-Mutt? The latter was a great comic relief, but BF was completely under-utilized and ignored.
Much like Birdman, Space Ghost has been overshadowed by the Coast-to-Coast incarnation of the character. I would look to see a reboot of the original, with a focus on his origins. Some comic book company did a mini-series a long time ago with that premise and it was okay, but felt too rushed and compressed.
Really, I would love to see all of these characters get a second chance at life, along with other characters like The Herculoids and Thundarr the Barbarian. Maybe we could get some movies and a Hanna-Barbera Cinematic Universe.

Thundercats are on the move, Thundercats are loose
Feel the magic, hear the roar, Thundercats are loose.
I just love that theme song. I regret never owning any of the toys, especially the Sword of Omens. Had the Blazing Sword from Voltron, though, which was nice.
At least until my brother took it apart and wrecked it. Asshole.

Have I already posted the intro to the classic 90s X-Men cartoon? Yeah, probably
Doesn't mean that I won't keep doing it!

Remember that one time Rocko from Nickelodeon's Rocko's Modern Life worked as a phone sex operator?
I don't even know what constitutes a "children's cartoon" anymore. Oddly, when I was a kid, Rocko having phone sex for a living didn't strike me as odd or anything. His monotone, almost confused 'Oh, babys' made me bust a gut, though.

That Josie and the Pussycats Cartoon Network Groovy
Since Kal posted a bunch of pictures of musical trio on Cave of Coolness, I figured I'd post the short Cartoon Network aired of them back in 2001, as part of their Groovies series. The short features Josie and the Pussycats singing the cartoon's theme song through different genres: disco, punk, country-western, heavy metal, and finally, techno.
My favorite is the punk version, followed very closely by the metal version.

Batman and Commisioner Gordon celebrate New Years
From The New Batman Adventures.
This is the first time I've seen this. I watched and loved Batman: The Animated Series when I was a kid, but never got around to watching The New Batman Adventures. I've seen some episodes since then and they're pretty excellent, especially the one where Batgirl dies and Gordon goes after Batman for it.

| "I Don't Know" is a pretty accurate descriptor for this show. |
The games will be out sometime this fall and will also be available for the current-gen consoles.

The Animaniacs' parody of Le Miserables is amazing
I haven't seen Les Miseranimals since I was a kid and it's still good.
Seriously, though, this was an eleven minute segment from a thirty minute cartoon that used to air in the afternoons. I come home from school everyday (when I wasn't in the hospital) and watch this, Tiny Toon Adventures, and Batman: The Animated Series (amongst others). My childhood was awesome!

Des Taylor's Fleischer-style Superman picture is beyond awesome
You can check out Des Taylor's other artwork on his blog. You can watch the Fleischer Studios Superman shorts on YouTube and I highly recommend them, they're pretty good.

Batman has 99 problems, but being in the upper 1% tax bracket isn't one of them

Superman: "Wow, Bruce, that's a...that's a nice cape you got there."
Batman: "Haha, yeah, I just bought it today. It's got diamonds sewn right into it, woo!"
Wonder Woman: "Uh...why are you so upbeat Bruce? We've never seen you this happy before."
Aquaman: "Yeah, and it's kind of freaking us the hell out."
Batman: "I just got back from my CPA and I'm even richer than fuck now! Haha! Who wants their own island? Fuck it, I'm buying a country."
He then throws his arms into the air, shouts "Batman out!" and skips away. Later that night, the rest of the JLA are at home, watching TV when they see a news bulletin about Bruce Wayne buying a country.

Check out this awesome rendition of the 90s X-Men cartoon's intro done in stop motion.
Found this on SF Signal.
And for comparison, hit the jump to see the real intro.
I dig it. It's not only cool, but it reminds me of all the X-Men figures I had growing up. They were the toys I went to after Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
